The Companion Animal Alliance was born out of President, Tracey Cain's love of animals and a strong desire to help those in need. Having had pets all her life, she is the type who wants to bring them all home. Realizing this was not likely to happen she came up with the idea of the Companion Animal Alliance as a way to help all those she could not bring home to live with her.

The development of the Companion Animal Alliance came about when she met professional charitable fundraiser Scott Sloyer. He helped develop the plan to bring the dream to life. In July 2008 "Dogs & Duds Celebrity Fashion Show" was born. The successful first event was the catalyst that led them to believe there could be a future for the Companion Animal Alliance. The Companion Animal Alliance will hold three large fundraising events each year to raise funds to award grants to animal welfare groups in the St Louis area.
